In praise of West Wales

Just back from a few days in West Wales and wanted to offer some recommendations.
LLanerchaeron for starters. National Trust owned, Grade I, John Nash designed, compact regency country house. Very pretty, and with two walled gardens and its working estate farm. Nicest NT place I think I've been to.

Aberaeron. Georgian fishing town. Excellent example of what can be done. Painted houses, free all day parking on harbour, minimal signage and yellow lines. East Devon District Council could learn a few things from the local council there.

Melin Tregwint. Working woollen mill and shop. Need great wealth to shop there.

And for the adventurous. Rock Mill, the last working woollen mill in Ceredigion. Owner has to decide in next year what to do. He wants to retire. If I win a few million on the Lottery - not that I do the lottery - I'd be up for this. So sad to see the mill as it is today. Go on someone, make him an offer. Melin Tregwint is a template for what can be done. Someone must fancy running a spinning mule.

Weather made the whole place look glorious. I'd highly recommend West Wales.

I never realised Rock Mill was a woolen mill. I assumed it was for crushing rocks for road making,

That's Rock Mill's trouble. Sadly the owners don't know - and probably don't have the finances - to market the place effectively. It has all it's old machinery still running but it's decaying badly. The wheel shakes these places to pieces and repairs are constant. Please go and see it before it's no longer there. I think it will be gone by next year.
