Idiot guide on how to post photos please!

As the title suggests can you please help, technophobe!

Are these digital pics and are they stored somewhere on your computer (like My Pictures)?

Are you registered with somewhere like Photobucket?

No, my photos are stored on my machine only.

Well that's a start!

Got that far? Click on browse, then it should take you to where your pics are stored.

Find the pic, double click on it, then there should be some text in the browse box.

Click on UPLOAD... hope that the file isn't too large...

Then... once it's uploaded, shouldn't take long, your pic shoul appear in a blue backgound box. There are three things you can choose - click on the text in the bottom box (forum BB Code) and not the others.


It should go blue.


Ues the COPY (or CUT) function on your computer, then PASTE that text in the box where you do your PPUK posts.

Try the PREVIEW and see that all is OK ... then press SUBMIT.

What do you do when a file IS too big though .. I've got roof timber pics I want to post and my p.c tells me they're too big - can I shrink them?

You may be able to shrink them if you have the software on your computer.

Otherwise, register for Photobucket - it's free and it will do the editing for you so you can post the pics in a more sensible size.

It's pretty much the same to upload as PhotoGalaxy - use the bottom box to click on and that will copy the pic and all you need to do is paste into the PPUK post.

There is more editing which can be done, click on edit and you can resize, and you have control over the picture, which you can remove at any time.

With PhotoGalaxy the only way you can remove is by editing it out of your post I think.

There is space at the bottom of the PPUK Homepage to try it all out. Using the 'preview' button shows what you get. If you don't want then to post it you can simply click out without pressing the SUBMIT button.

Pulling my hair out with frustration here, I have goy photos uploaded onto photogalaxy, I do not understand how I get them onto the post. The I have clicked on the BBCode to the left all that does is explain how to do it.........and I having a few problems here.....................

Click on the lettering in the bottom box... not the bit at the side which says BB code.

That should go blue. Then click on CUT (use that function on your computer - or COPY either)

Then PASTE that bit of gobbledegook in this box you write in to make a post?

Sorry I do not understand what you mean by the bottom box!

Right - start again.

If you have clicked on the link above and got PhotoGalaxy, you will have a box saying browse.

Click on that and that gets you to where your picture is stored on your computer.

If the pic is in a folder you may get the folder - in which case open. Click on the picture you want to upload and it should fill in the box at the bottom asking for filename. May need a double click. Click open and the whole lot should vanish and in the white box next to BROWSE on Photogalaxy you should have some writing?

Actually on my computer a double click on the pic is enough to get the white box next to browse to say where the image is stored...

Drive C etc.

When you've got that far... try UPLOAD.

If the pic file is OK that will take a very short while.

THEN there should be a box with a blue background showing your picture and a choice of things to do.

Choose the bottom box, the one which says Forum BB code.

Then do the copy and paste?

It tool me an age I have to say the first time!

Yes horrid windows but nice house...

It's worth registering for Photobucket though. I looks daunting at first but it isn't.
