not too sure of any of you use any ICI products but as an interior designer myself i have to provide all sorts of alternatives for clients.

ICI are giving away an interior design hub of their products free to everyone who registers. you don't necessarily have to be an interior designer to get one. It consists of dvds, a full colour chart which can come in handy just for ideas etc not that you have to buy their paints.. you generally get a colour wheel and all sorts of other bits and bobs and it comes in a large A3 size portfolio which if nothing else is great for keeping samples etc in

Thanks for posting that up Ilona, being stereotypically male (and therefore utterly useless at anything to do with co-ordinating colours) I could do with a colour wheel ! Colour charts are always useful anyway, even if you don't then use their paints.

Akzo are a bit of a beast now - when I used to deal with them they had Crown paints plus other retail brands of coatings such as International, Sikkens and Sadolin. Add in ICI and you've got Dulux (of course), Hammerite - plus a whole load of other specialist brands.

Thats exactly why i posted the link .. because you dont have to use thier products but they do give you a few pointers in the dvd they send you if you aren't so good at that type of thing and the colour chart is the full professional one that i until last year had to pay £30 a year for an updated version!..It all comes in a large sturdy fold over style portfolio bag which if nothing else is always good to keep your paper and fabric samples in or anything else you care to keep. :wink:

It has been ordered - I shall pass it on to my chief interior designer, aka Mrs F ! What she normally does is come up with 3 or 4 different ideas for a room, then I get to make the final choice from those - so she gets something that she likes by default, and I don't get faced with an overwhelming and utterly confusing choice to make!

Well, it works for us anyway, luckily our tastes are quite similar.

The most valuable bit of the old ICI became what is now AstraZeneca, the giant pharma company, and another bit became Syngenta, the agrochemicals company. It's quite likely therefore that anyone reading this will have some ICI products sitting inside them as well.

Having worked for ICI in the 1980s I still have some very modest pension entitlement from them, which I am keeping my finger crossed that Akzo will maintain. Coming to think of it, I think ICI products are marvelous and you should all go out now and buy carloads.

My Dulux goodie bag turned up today - and rather good it is too, thank you Ilona! No colour wheel that I can see but lots of other stuff and the pro colour chart alone will be very useful, much better than endless paper slips from the Dulux mixing machine in the local DIY shed.

They must ahve taken the colour wheel out since i got sent one ! But the bag is invaluable for me for all my bits and bobs prelim sketches etc... :wink:
