Hello,
I'm interested in learning more about Anglo-Saxon/early medieval land management/holdings. I want to understand how we got to some people owning land and others not, how the open field system worked particularly in its less pure form, about the commons and the waste and squatters, peasants, cottars, strips and furlongs, Any suggestions about what is a good read? An Amazon search throws up heaps of really interesting books but they are very expensive.
