I can't see any pics

Hi - as I'm Techno phobic can anyone tell me why I never seem to be able to 'see' the pics people send in with their posts please - I see dialogue about 'attached pics' but..........I see no pics?

Hope you can help as I feel left out!

Do you mean pics actually in posts, or those where there are links to external sites with pictures?

Its the pics attached to posts - i can double click on links to external sites and access pictures ok.

This is the only website that gives me problems with viewing pictures.

My guess is it's a firewall issue. Possibly the way that the forum software refers pictures is not accepted by the firewall built into my router. Shame as I would have liked to see the pics of the Cumbria windows in the adjacent thread!

Who is your ISP?

Does that ISP have filtering of some sort (Kid friendly only sites - that sort of thing?) If so, either the site hosting the pics could be blocked or the cross site way the pics are shown could be blocked.

Here is a rather horrible picture of inhabitant of a hole in the wall of my house. It is hosted on a site which is very unlikely to be on any block lists so may show up.

Here is an image from the period property site which will show if its a cross site issue.

I only post pics using Photobucket or PhotoGalaxy. Can't think either of those are too off beam.

Mostly they aren't obscene...

Can you right click on the X and choose show picture? But not this one as it's only a red X not a picture.

Without knowing your browser (Firefox, Internet explorer etc.) and operating system (Windows XP, Mac OS etc.) its a little hard to help.
The images in the posts are being requested from a different web site (domain) from the forum so if you have an advert blocker it could be blocking loading images from 'other domains' within the page.

If you can find your browser details often under Help>about then someone may be able to help more.

Both pics on mdb's post show up fine.
Photobucket may be the problem. Although the site is fine in terms of content, maybe there's a security issue which is causing it to be blocked (?)

By the way - for me its probably not a browser problem as its the same in IE as in Firefox. Also some pics show up but not others.

Me again! Problem solved for me. My internet security was blocking open media sites. Hope this may help someone else like the OP

Well the Photobucket I can't fathom at all, it's 'my' site and has all my pics that I post. I can make albums etc, it's all quite legit...

Sometimes I use PhotoGalaxy - it's just a bit quicker but far less control over what and how things are posted. There is no editing facility (size reduction etc) and no way of removal apart from deletion from a post.

I would be interested to know which or if both give problems.

Try this.

Click on Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab. Scroll down the list until you get to the Multimedia heading. Under that there's an option "Show Pictures". Make sure there's a green tick in the box beside it - if not, click on the box to insert one. Then click OK.

Hi all - sorry I've been away so only just got around to reading the dialogue. I get no Red X...... I can see MdB's pictures (both of them ) WHAT is that THING in your wall it makes me feel very afraid!!! YYYYYYERUK.

Anyway my ISP is Freedom 2 Surf aka F2F.
