hydraulic lime

We are in the process of repointing internal walls with a hydraulic lime mix and I have just read that for internal walls to use non hydraulic lime. Does that mean we have been doing it all wrong.Panic attack looming.

I don't think it makes much difference.. Hydraulic seems very breathable but seems stiffer and more crack prone than plain lime. For repointing inside I'm using hydrauluc lime but for plasters I'm using hydrated/ putty/ magimix bags from the usual premix suppliers as they all seem to do the job of plaster and will hopefully be slightly more flexible

One advantage of mortar & plaster mixed from lime putty - As long as it is kept in a sealed container (usually with a bit of water on top), it keeps pretty much for ever. Hydraulic lime mixes will harden off due to the presence of the water, so have a limited "pot life".

YES !!...(so long as they dont freeze)
....and of course any small bits of putty left over in the bottom of the tub can be collected in a "Limewash" bucket(covered in water), always at hand for an extra layer of limewash to further soften a wall
