While you're reading a thread, click the Post Reply button.
You'll be presented with the usual reply window, with a large box into which you type the text that you want to post.
Below the main text box, you'll see two tabs, called "Options" and "Upload attachment". Click on the latter.
To upload an image file from your own computer, click the "Browse" button. An explorer window will open showing the folder structure of your own computer.
Browse through your folders until you find the image file you want to insert into your post. Click on it to highlight it, then click the "Open" button. The explorer window will disappear and the path to your file will now appear in the "Filename" box on the "Upload attachment" tab.
Now click the "Add the file" button. Wait a few seconds and watch the progress bar as the file is uploaded. Once this has finished, the file name will appear below the text box, just below a "File comment" text line. In this line you can type a few words about the picture if you want to.
Now place your cursor in the main text box where you want to the picture to appear, and click the "Place inline" button. Your picture will inserted at that point.
NOTE My fire picture above is really too big - hence the scroll bars to move around it (these are a big improvement on the old forum, which used to allow over-large pictures to exceed the screen size). I reckon the ideal size for a posted picture is about 600 - 800 pixels wide. Others may have a different view on this.
If any computer whizzies have any comments to add to the above, please feel free.
