How to paint cast iron bath?

We're just finishing off our ensuite and need to paint our cast iron bath. It's a new bath, with a rough unfinished exterior. Does anyone know how to prepare it, and what type of paint needs to be used? Thanks

Farrow and Ball, primer and top coat. We used estate eggshell.

Perfect, we had reached the same conclusion but good to know someone else has sucessfully done the same.

I used F&B oil eggshell and didn't bother with the primer - because I'm a rubbish decorator and too impatient That was five years ago and it's been absolutely fine. Vicky

I used Sanderson eggshell in a lilac shade on the very old cast iron bath and all the woodwork. Very nice paint. Here's our revamped bathroom - we put in new loo and sink and shower. We kept the bath obviously and painted it and put in chrome taps rather than the brass ones which although reasonably modern were all leaky and we prefer chrome.

Lovely bathroom, but I pity you with the drains problems you must have.

Why else would you have such a huge sink plunger?
