How to level bed

Still working on my complicated listed farmhouse purchase and visited the house again today. Was reminded of the hugely characterful bedroom floors!

How do people level out furniture on seriously sloping floors, are there kits available for beds etc? Shims are not going to cut it! :shock:

Bita of wood. Old house people tend to have lots of offcuts.

Our bed has castor cups under one end, not the other.
It still slopes somewhat. If I wanted to level it more, I'd make some tailored lifts of oak or elm.
As Malcolm says, it's a DIY situation, like most things associated with old houses.

I used up my entire collection of useful short offcuts when we moved in. Generally a half inch shim here or there does the trick but one of the floors has enough slope for the bed to need 2 inch blocks under the legs at one end!

Blocks of wood. And round off any sharp corners to save your toes.

Thanks all, this sounds closest to our situation if it comes off. At a guess I would say more than 2" across distance of bed up/down. I've seen adjustable cabinet feet but all a bit fugly. Just made me wonder what most people do and if there is more elegant solution in these parts.

Half-inch shims, ... castor cups, ... off-cuts
We have one bed that has its normal 12" high legs on one end, and to achieve a perfectly level surface to sleep on it has legs that are just 2.5" high on the other end :shock:

Well, if you're not planning to move again, as Mel mentions, you could always cut the 'long'' legs to level it up.
