This lighting cable was chased in about seven years ago and filled in with a cement mortar.
The cement has no adhesion to the plastic wiring ducts nor to the 170 year old surrounding lime stucco, and has only stayed in place because it is wedged in. Water has penetrated the joins and got behind not only the paint layers on the surface stucco but has also got behind the stucco and loosened that.
Am working on ideas to repair the damage. These are likely to require cutting back and replastering in lime. To make matters less convenient still the problem extends behind the gas mater box (left).
Why do so few architects and builders understand these things?
