We have been invited to make an offer on a rather strange building, constructed mainly of corrugated sheeting, castoffs and discarded windows. The seller is an old lady who sometimes walks round the village with several shopping bags. The cottage, three storeys high, is attached to a high brick wall, and looks in danger of collapsing in a high wind. We have not ventured inside. Its only saving grace seems to be its quiet but central location. The price she mentioned is extremely low. Should we take her at her word, and make an offer, with a view to swift demolition of the dwelling before it collapses, or leave well alone? She may be a nutcase ...
