I used Powerpoint for my design and converted it to pdf. I guess you could any software to create the design as long as it can create a pdf file.
Or you can just send them a rough sketch and they'll create a design for you.
They then 'print' or etch the design onto a wooden template using a fancy laser machine before using it to form the casting mould.
