Some friends are rennovating an early victorian house. Some of their ceiling were clad in embossed tin tiles giving an intricate floral design and presumable meant as a faux plaster effect.

One ceiling has been taken down as the builder advised it was unsafe. The tiles have been removed and I think disgarded as they were apparently too damaged to be reused.

Does anyone know of a suppliers of new or reclaimed tiles in the UK? There are various suppliers in the US but I cannot find one in the UK.

These were installed for fireproofing purposes.

I don't know of a supplier, just thought I'd mention it!

Sad that they were damaged.

I saw the friend again last night and mentioned that I had found suppliers in the US.

She has been told by her electrician that these tiles are a nightmare as far as electricity (presumably earthing) is concerned.

How do people with original ceilings get around this!?

I dont see a metal ceiling lining would pose any onerous electrical problems. Attention is needed to light fittings, the metalwork needs to be well enough insulated from it, thats all really.
