In a week where my life has been dominated by a dreadful arson attack, I thought I'd update some good news about another - Holme Cultram Abbey in Cumbria.

when my other half was shakespearean actor (dahling!) he played in Othello at Holme Cultram Abbey - stayed at the Wayrigg Hotel - he frequently regales our dinner guests with stories about it

Gods bless him - he was nearly famous you know!

Yes, my other half decided not to play bass in the college band, and showed another student a few bass riffs in order that he could join.

He's now calling himself Sting.

although I note he ditched her quite early on - she's not very rock'n'roll - more rhubarb crumble

Maybe she ditched him. I never thought he was anything much to write home about, though he did so want to be famous.
