I found it very interesting. Thought we might have a go at the competition as well!

Don't go there if you have only 5 minutes !!! It's one of those sites that draws you in, very good though so make some time.

Oh dear,
I've got 5mins till lunchtime so I'd better wait.
However if all it does is tell you the age of the house I know that and who has lived here (I'm the 4th occupier in 115 years) and that the street is named after a relative of one of the Northern Glodsmith's jewellry firm founders.
It's the first thing I've done in all three houses I've owned so far - check Local Directories and the Deeds etc
That is far more exciting and can take up many engrossed hours

I'd really like to find out more about my place as the more I look at it the more I realise just how much repair and modification has been done over the years. I wish there were more resources online though, as I don't have the time to look around archives etc.

It seems like a nice way of consolidating all your period property information, maybe good for potential buyers if you're lookg to sell.

You're not going to get Microsoft Office, Photoshop and Autocad on a £500 machine!

PS: .doc files created in Works are fully compatible with .doc files created in Word.

Agree with you Penners, five minutes is just not enough ( to view the programme I mean) . I have made a little start and found an interesting map and an earlier photo than the one we were given by our vendors. It also tells me that the house was built in 1430, but not quite sure where that bit of info came from.

It would , of course, be simpler to request permission from the 'Estate' in the village to let me look at their records.

Incidentally the RC church behind us is up for auction. Savills.
