Heraklith board fixing

I'm thinking of putting up some Heraklith board over one wall which has been stripped back to the bricks. I understand that the technique is to put up some battens and the attach the Heraklith to the battens - my question is - do you / should you put anything between the battens or just leave it as airspace, behind the Heraklith?

If you have any damp coming through the wall at all then make sure you have an air gap which is ventilated or you will end up with a very wet wall.

Pressuming you have lime plaster and pointing to the brickwork we can assume a void will not allow moisture to build up so it should not be a problem. On the other hand maybe some insulation of a breathable nature would not go amiss.
If its single skin brick and exposed it may be better left a gap and vented.
