Help with cleaning/restoring glazed white bricks

Good evening,

Long time lurker, first post!

I have purchased an Edwardian terraced house built around 1910, it has glazed white bricks on the front which are lovely but have carbon deposits/are soiled (photos attached) and I was wondering if anyone has experience cleaning similar?

I’m concerned I might damage the bricks if I use abrasive cleaners/a jet wash but really want to restore them.

Have you tried just soapy warm water on a sponge?

Yes it works on the superficial grime but I’ve heard perhaps a weak acid is better at cleaning the more ingrained/stained bricks.

Beautiful brickwork especially in the sun, some people paint them but I’d not consider that personally

You could try a citrus oil degreaser / cleaner?
