Hello
I've just finished cleaning back coving in the bedroom of my Edwardian flat, in preparation for redecorating. Most of it is traditional Edwardian plasterwork and is quite stable but on one wall, put up about 30 years ago when the house was converted into flats, there is a length of rather basic replacement coving which does not match the original in terms of craftsmanship or quality of material.
The replacement coving has been put up in three adjoining sections and is made of some sort of plaster (but softer than the older sections) with what appears to be a felt-like backing which has then been applied to the wall/ceiling. One of these sections was coming slightly loose when I removed the wallpaper covering it and has now, following a light clean with warm water, come even further loose to the extent that I am worried it may fall down! Does anyone know how coving like this would be fixed? Is there a special glue that is used? I have tried looking on the usual DIY store websites but can't find anything.
The other option would be to take the whole replacement section down and find a better match for the original but I am mindful of the costs.
Any advice would be most welcome.
Jenny
