Hello, my name is Craig and I have owned a 1910 miners end of terrace house now for just over 12 months. Remarkably we are only the 3rd owners of the house, the first couple owning it until the 60s and the previous owner until we brought it. Although a terraced house there is only 3 in the row and ours is larger than the other 2 with a different internal layout. Our conclusion is that ours was probably a managers house. Anyway a very very long story short the house was in a bad state when we got it and we proceeded to gut it, as we are in the position where we dont need to live in it we considered now the best time to get as much of the work done as possible. No real nasty surprises were found upon doing so, some nice surprises though (solid timbers, geometric hall tiles, 8" quarry tiles and a well in the garden). The house also had a lot of ground around it so we decided to put a 2 storey extension on the side, this was provided it was in keeping with the rest of the row and I wanted it to look as if it had always been there. Fast forward to now and we are halfway up with the extension and I am looking forward to turning it back into a house again. If you have made it this far then thanks for taking the time to read it. Im sure I will have plenty of questions along the way
