Used to be a school. But was clearly built as a house. So would reinstating it as a house be a 'change of use' with all the Building Regs that have so bedevilled Malcolm for instance?

"in't Lakes" is a bit misleading - "On t'outside edge o't' Lakes" is more like. Very much the Wild West of Cumbria and extremely close to Sellafield nuclear reprocessing plant, doubtless one reason for the 'peanuts' asking price. And incidentally, the accent over there sounds more like a strange mix of Irish and Geordie.

Going a bit off topic but if anyone is heading out that way next year, you would be hard pushed to beat a walk over Muncaster Fell to Ravenglass. Park up at Eskdale Green on the Ravenglass & Eskdale railway line and take the route over Muncaster Fell to Ravenglass station. The views are out of this world on a clear day. Seascale is down there somewhere. After lunch on the waterfront you can take the miniature railway back to your car. If you fancy a long day, Muncaster Castle and Gardens are well worth a visit. Two visits recommended if you can stomach Wrynose and Hardknott passes from Ambleside direction!!

I bought mine for the price of the plot. The house was free. That seems about right for putting a neglected commercial building back to residential use.
