Warm hugs all round from me, hope 2014 will be the best yet for our houses and ourselves.

Resolutions and plans for everyone? I've got the usual ones, diet and fitness, health and kindness. House wise this is the Year of the Render and Windows; we will be seeing massive changes at BC. Skillingtons are booked for the render job and the parts for draughtproofing the windows and replacing rotten wood ordered - the bedroom window already started by my wonderful Chris - who seems thoroughly enthused and excited by this most irksome of tasks. Garden-wise, the pond will take up masses of my time, when I'm not painting the sashes or lime-washing the house, and furniture-wise, I'm highly tempted by this lovely thing milady found for our campaign room:

Happy New Year.
Jo has changed her mind yet again on the house priorities, so now it's an extension/conservatory on the side of the lounge, as it's apparently not big enough. But it means we can take it back to it's original size and incorporate the well into the room.
As for resolutions, well Jo and I are embarking on producing world peace.

2014 will bring freshly painted drawing room windows, inside,-- condensation has started to play havoc--I await a quote to update/streamline the bathroom shower, and a quote to reconfigure the kitchen worktop layout . As always I would be totally excited if an AGA should happen to fall out of the sky so I could kick out the esse which drives me insane.
Amongst all that is the continued gun dog training!!

Happy New Year to all. Shame we couldn't have had todays weather yesterday. Mrs. T not happy. Sat down last night, glass of wine in hand, ready for Sherlock and bang. No power from 8am to 4am :evil: . At least it wasn't as bad as our previous big storm where we were out for two days. Feel sorry for the poor buggers with floods and no power for all Christmas and New Year!.

Jocelyn - your list is very similar to ours although training the dog comes first. He may only be an 11 month old wire haired dacshund but he has amazing hunting, tracking and chasing instincts that override anything we can currently do to stop him. We are having the shower renewed and we need our oven repaired. Be careful what you wish for though. An AGA falling out of the sky will require a new roof :shock: .

I *must* finish window repairs this year - the glass in some of my sashes is being held in with I'm not sure what!

Get the flat roof of my bay re-done so it doesn't drip down the front, which is both rotting the window frame and making the wall below the frame damp. Needs money though, let's hope my works bonus pays out this year. Would like to get the roof re-done in lead but slightly nervous about thieving &*^@#*s.

Finish decorating the bathroom. And the kitchen, which has been bare plaster now for over a year. Luckily Mrs F has patience!

Finish the garage. Spend time with the kids. Ride motorbikes occasionally at least.

Oh dear, it's already looking like too long a list! Plus the usual lose weight, get fitter etc etc.

Last summer I spent hours with divining rods looking for a well and underground stream to no avail.
Two days before Christmas the underground stream reared its ugly head in the Blacksmiths which is attached to the house! I noticed the floor had about an inch of water over it and on closer inspection I saw a small trickle of water coming out of the floor...so what did I do? I got a screw driver and poked the hole!!!! (i'm the type of person that has to touch 'wet paint' or poke a wasps nest ) silly me, it was like the scene of a cartoon :shock: Mr Angry became a little more angry than usual ! we tried poking every object within reach into the ever growing hole hoping to seal the flow. I quickly put my wellies on and saw my slipers sailing past,Mr Angry had an idea :idea: ran into the garden and got a bucket of clay,put a big mound of clay over the hole and hey presto the water flow stopped (phew!) we haven't been brave enough to remove the clay from the hole and have spent hours and hours looking for advice on the tinternet.

Hooray, we have at least started the New year with some good honest humour---- Penners as always keeps me smiling!!

Strictly speaking, the roof does need a repair or two---so bring on the Aga!!

How strange that we all seem to have similar jobs to sort out. Gone are the days of waltzing into a project and affording it all in one fell swop--- those were good days for me--and I have happy memories of all three houses, still standing for others to enjoy and not ripped out.

Belated Happy New Year. I didn't make any significant resolutions. Briefly flirted with the idea of learning to swim properly, but decided that since I absolutely hate water and it makes me miserable and cold to be in a pool I could give it a pass.

Very worried about the idea of Agas falling from the sky now, not something I had considered before, but the collective wisdom here seems to be that it's a possibility so I shall have to look for some sort of protective "anti Aga" amulet. I wonder what would be appropriate.

Should an Aga be falling from the sky, gravity merely has to be temporarily distracted. "Look over there!" you could say, "There's a piano in the air!" Gravity will rush to do what it does best with the piano, giving you time to erect a scaffolding, climb up and get the Aga, and bring it safely down to install in your kitchen.
