Well, according to the Big Sky Fairy Storybook, the Big Sky Fairy was pretty much responsible for everything, and did it all in 6 days. Then he saw it was carp and said "No-ah" and flooded 'em all out. Then he saw it was still all carp and said "Sod'em" and wiped them out instead.

A bit later, the Little Sky Fairy came along, but in a big misunderstanding over the mercantile opportunities in the local Sky Fairy franchise, he accidentally got nailed to a tree.

They've been fairly quiet more recently - but there's a nice German chap living in a bit of Italy that isn't Italy, who has a direct line to the Big Sky Fairy if you need to get in touch...

It's just like I remember a few Easters on the trot when I was about 7 or 10 - so late 70's/early 80's.

Absolutely scorching hot and blissfully carefree. One year it was so hot and dry, we burnt off 10 acres of scrubby grass in the fields, not believing it would ever light. We soon discovered it was like a tinderbox! That was in the days when you could burn fields - it was the best thing that we ever did to the fields - the grass that grew back was lovely. Mind you, it kept burning all Easter weekend, and we had a bit of fun moving the sheep around ahead of the flames! :shock:

There are in fact plenty of intelligent people who take the real meaning of Easter seriously, even if not necessarily believing everything in that book you mention. Fortunately for you though, Christians don't do Fatwahs. :wink:

I think this holiday will go down in folklore along with 10th August 2003 (the hottest day on record, also the day my daughters were baptised), and the summer of 1977, and... add yours below!

If I was feeling contentious, I would debate your choice of highlighted word... but I'm not. :roll:

I'm just glad I didn't live at the time of the (Period) Inquisition - it seems to me to have been as fundamentalist an approach (pretty much a fatwah!), as we criticise elsewhere in the world today. :wink:
