Well, the news item seems to be completely taken up with the damage to the bloomin' old stone arch. No mention of how badly damaged the van was.

Strange that the van was going to collect a marquee that was apparently delivered the previous week. Must have been a differnet van I suppose.

Still, I think it's a bit of overkill to regard it as 'destroyed'. I doubt any of the stones have been lost or damaged and I'd bet there are loads of photos of the structure, so it shouldn't be too difficult to rebuild it pretty much exactly as it was. It's all part of it's history.

poor mans livelihood destroyed by some inconsiderate Augustinian monks who couldnt be bothered to build their arches big enough for a transit to fit through.
and they are always the first to complain when a trades man cant get to them to take their marquee away!
edit - i bet if it were a pie delivery van they would be more considerate with the height of their arches!

I had a bad day too. Scalded my poor cheek with the stripper. Aching and disfigured now, more than usual.

oh dear , i hope its not too bad Joce , burns can be right painful things. the poor old pie got grilled because we have an oven/grill combi type cooker and its all too easy to grill something instead of roasting it, i ended up having a quick fix of microwaved sausage rolls and beans for my tea..
