Hi, I have white sash and case windows and the original guttering is currently painted a light grey colour but needs redoing. Should the guttering be grey, black or white? The painter wants to paint it white but I think it might look odd?
White guttering will hit you in the eye, it will also show every blemish such as rust around the joints and algae. Look around, most gutters are painted black to over come this, though its the worst for overheating and paint flaking.

Unless you live in a listed building or conservation area, I think it's down to what you prefer. I'd be concerned that white would look grotty fairly quickly. My cast iron gutters are all black, and I can't imagine it's much different from any other colour in terms of how quickly it would need redecorating again.
