Need help! Mum lives in a grade 2 house, needs new roof and also heating installed (as she is getting on a tad!) The property is between Bath and Bristol. Who would we contact regarding grants?

It depends - is she on income support? That way she may be eligible for help with heating installation. As a listed building the installation of heating should be VAT exempt, but LBC would be required.

Grants for historic building repair for the roof are about as rare as the proverbial teeth of the hen.

There may possibly be a very small amount of grant aid via the local authority, it all depends on the local authority - your CO is the first person to contact, but don't hold your breath.

She can get help from the government as a pensioner. Suggest contacting age concern. If your father was in the forces then SAFFA may help. Don't hold out much hope for a grant related to a grade 2 listed building though.
