anybody familiar with this wall & ceiling system for covering plaster walls in the uk,its a fiberglass and polymer system.walls come out looking new.let me know
Well, a quick google for it produces only 120 hits, it appears to be an American system, and as far as I can tell from what little info's available it's basically fibreglass "cloth" hung on the wall like wallpaper and saturated with primer.
Lining paper would have about the same effect for a fraction of the price and without the uncertainty about how well it performs.
Obviously the majority of people responding to my enquiries don't have a lot of flat wall plastering experience or shoulder wear and tear injuries.I frequently use it in chuches for delamination issues
If you know all about it why bother posting your question here?
The little I could find out about it doesn't seem to recommend it for use on a historic building (though it might by a handy bodge for plasterers who don't care how their work affects the performance of the rest of the building over time)
People are getting so salty about it because this is a forum which caters for those who wish to make the most of their period properties. It's generally accepted that to do this, owners should take a sensitive approach to repairs, and especially, experience suggests that "wonder cures" for this or that problem tend to be anything but. Your description of Glidwall, and the little information about it on the net, sounds very much like a "wonder cure" and therefore inevitably will be treated with suspicion here.
The fact that Glidwall throws up so few hits on the net suggests it isn't a well-known product, and what little information there is about it doesn't seem to recommend it in the context of historic construction.
It doesn't look as if it's available in the UK.
Perhaps you could explain what the particular problem is that you're trying to solve (unless you're a plasterer used to using Glidwall as a catch-all solution, in which case we probably can't help you).
You *didn't* originally ask whether anyone knew of a supplier in the UK, you asked whether anybody was familiar with it. In this context, that reads as a request for advice about its use and/or performance, and the advice you received in return was that Glidwell doesn't sound (from your description) like the sort of product whose use should be nencouraged.
It is, or was, manufactured by a paint company called Glidden, a US subsidiary of ICI, but at http://www.glidden.com I can't find an obvious reference to it - maybe it's gone off the market.
