Glass partitions

If a glass partition is entirely removeable, then does it require LBC to be put in?

Any thoughts gratefully received.

I'm no expert, but would think it may hinge on your definition of "entirely removable"

Windows are entirely removable, even my roof is entirely removable if I want to.....I believe there are other factors which may cause it to be seen as part of the structure. Also...any subdivision of rooms AFAIK does require building reg approval from the perspective of ventilation and emergency escape routes....the fact that it is glass makes no difference.

Hmmm. I had assumed that it's transparency would mean that it did not alter the character of a room. But in any case, if it does not go fully up to the ceiling, I guess it is hard to say that it is part of the structure.

If it affects the character of the building, it requires consent, removable or not, structural or not.

What are the 'rules' regarding 'character' though? Almost all modern furnishings or a large plasma TV , for example, could be regarded as affecting the character of a period property, even though they are entirely removeable. But no one needs consent for such things do they?

Building regulations approval will almost certainly be required....regardless of whether LBC is required or not
