Ghost signs

I've always liked seeing old painted advertising signs on brickwork of buildings, and spotted this article on the BBC today:-

This one is very prominent as you go over the English Bridge in Shrewsbury, always catches me eye. I'm surprised that more modern businesses do not have them painted - once ubiquitous, now unusual, they really do stand out. You probably need planning permission though I guess.

There were many cyclecar manufacturers after the Great War. Never heard of Lington. But then, most of them sank without trace in the crash of '29.

Where we are now, don't recall seeing any old painted signs, but I'll be keeping a lookout. There were some beauties where we lived in Surrey.
I also remember signs on gables in France when we holidayed there in the 60s, mainly fags and booze.
