Getting an energy retrofit assessment for 1930s house

Hello, I wonder if anyone is able to advise please on how to find a suitable company to do a full energy retrofit assessment for our 1930s house in South Wales? We don't just want the EPC (energy performance certificate), I'm looking for actual knowledgeable science-based independent advice on how to improve the energy efficiency of our home. I want them to test things with equipment (e.g. thermal imaging, air flow) not just walk around and stare at walls.

What do you look for in finding someone to do this? What qualifications etc./memberships?

I can only seem to find companies that have a vested interest in selling you things, or don't understand period homes, or are based in London/North of England.

Lol I agree the EPC crap is sooo broken as to be barely worth taking into account. I've found air door blower-test companies in Wales before, but idk about a wholistic company that would do all manner of tests and investigations under one umbrella company.

I did have a company offering to do a "free" energy survey. He came in and waved an FLIR camera around and checked for damp with some non-contact protimeter. After looking in the loft, he then proceeded to tell me that the fibreglass insulation only had a lifespan of 10 years, and mine was not fit for purpose.
He got a swift kick up the backside and removed from the property as soon as he started to spout on about spray foam insulation.

So yes, be very suspicious of companies offering "free" surveys.. Perhaps contact the Passivhuas Trust and see if they could recommend someone local.
