Getting 28x160mm floorboard timber

Any ideas where I can obtain planed square edge timber at a size of 28 x 160mm? My local timber merchant says
they can get it run as a special but there's a big set-up charge and I only need a small quantity so it doesn't make sense.

I need about 6 metres though a further 10 metres would be useful to replace some modern bendy boards that were put
in in the 1970s.

I'm in Argyll, and Glasgow is the nearest useful town.

Also, while I'm on the subject of floorboards:
Upstairs in this 1850 lochside detached house, we seem to have original floorboards (except for a few gaps), but they
are tongue and groove. I didn't think that T&G was used for floors until 1920s. Am I wrong about that or are these in
fact replacement floorboards?

Depending where you are in Argyll, I'd be trying one of the local estate sawmills, who might be able to run you off what you need, from whatever wood they have available at the time. The Association of Scottish Hardwood Sawmillers might be able to help you find someone in your area, but you could also ask in the pub, speak to someone in the Forestry Commission or 'phone the Council in Lochgilphead and ask if they have a forestry officer - all of these sources will know if there is a small-scale local sawmill still operating.

Of course, some of the estates have stopped doing their own forestry or given up the sawmill, while others have appreciated that they can meet specialist demand over a much wider area and are moving upmarket. But most still have the personal touch and can provide small volumes of bespoke timber (these guys are a good example).

T&G was around well before the 1920's, I've seen original boards in several Victorian houses that are earlier than mine (1899) - I've got T&G throughout.

Will you see these boards? I've made up some replacement boards here by clamping and gluing two smaller, modern boards together then cutting to the correct width afterwards.

28x160 sounds like a size you might be able to find as window board, have you considered that? Do you or a friend have a table saw to rip an oversized window board down on? A quick google shows you can get 27x168 and 27x217 round edge window board, often the back edge is rebated so you may need the wider size. If it's a touch thin ( not forgetting that sizes quoted can be the pre-planed size - although long ago memories from living in Scotland tell me that the Scots are more sensible and quote the post-planed size, I think!) you can always pack the boards up slightly with some shims. Screwfix and Toolstation sell packs of plastic shims, very handy they are.

Standard floorboards are usually 19 or 22mm thick and of various width.
Anything thicker than this and your chances are extremely remote to buy them " off the shelf".
It sounds like you need some timberyard ot timber supplier to have the required thickness to be machined for you.

From a good woodyard you should be able to get 32 x 175 redwood PSE. That'll be pine, coming out at about 27 x 169 so you could rip it down to 160. Or even rough out with a table saw /circular saw in to T&G.
