As I'm sure nobody here gets bored by lime plastering, I have scanned the pages from some old construction books about lime plastering. Interestingly 2 of the books say to use a wooden float on the setting coat to polish it, and one says to use the trowel. Also they say to trowel on setting stuff over an area of 2 to 3 yards. Does this mean that the setting coat was flattened and polished in small areas unlike present day plastering where it is done as an entire wall??? The suction is really high on my walls so I could do with finding a good way to get a good finish before the whole lots dries out in around 15 mins. Also especially for GRB there is a mention of mitre and jointing tools but rather disappointingly they just look like plasterers small tools.
