I moved in here just over three years ago. On Thursday, at last, I got round to doing one of those jobs that has been on the list for all that time - I finished one of the wall ends where I had cut a hole in the limestone wall for my new driveway. The wall is less than 2ft high and all I had to do basically was to fix two coping stones which had been resting in place for all that time. However, you know how it is - the whole job took over 5 hours as I had to fix the next bit down and the whole thing was not as solid as I thought it was. I'm pretty pleased with the result.

Yesterday my dear wife cut it a bit fine and scraped the car on the end coping stone as she drove out! :roll: :lol:

Well that's about par for the course isn't it? Comes under the same category as throwing things away, even bizarre things. I remember buying a tube of that filthy Zeebrite graphite paste to smarten up the grates of our house before we put it on the rental market, and thinking "no point taking that home to London, no use at all for it and it might make a dreadful mess in my bag". ONE WEEK, later a lovely Victorian cast iron stick stand comes up at my local auction and my absentee bid won it. What did I need to polish up the ever so slightly rusty drip tray? ....... Yes, you guessed, a tube of Zeebrite.

Yesterday at Feltwell Towers.....

"Dad, can I play on my scooter on the drive please?"

"Yes, BE CAREFUL of the cars though".

"I will."

5 minutes later - thump, "Sorry Dad", one scratched car. Of course he couldn't have picked the much abused "family bus" to hit, he had to hit the nice car.

That's about as much sympathy as my wife gave me. "Oh, it's only a small scratch".

An elderly neighbour was kind enough to move her car out of the way while we put up a new fence. While putting the car back in the evening she pressed the wrong pedal and demolished the fence (and her car unfortunately).

New structures are easy to knock down. There was a low pillar at the end of a new nicely constructed curved wall in the next village that lasted about a week before it was demolished by construction traffic next door.
