Gas Leak!!! Waxing's on hold

After getting well into waxing the wood in my house over the last few days, my Rayburn decided to spring a slight gas leak yesterday :evil: Nothing too bad, just a slight smell of unspent gas coming from around the cooker knob. So, I turned off the gas at the mains and called National Grid, who got here in about 20 minutes. Unfortunately, they couldn't re-light the Rayburn as the flame failure device on the cooker side kept kicking in due to low pressure on the pilot light :evil: :evil: Damn!!!! Now I've got to wait until I can get someone out tomorrow to fix it. Fortunately, I have an annual maintenance agreement on it, which will cover any work and parts Still, I'm pretty miffed that I can't carry on with the waxing. Well, I 'could' if I lit the wood burner but it's far too early for that :lol: Oh well, looks like it's a day of buffing.....now, where's Joce with those cloths on her feet????????? :lol: :lol: :lol:

Oooo, poor you, are you managing to hold your tongue?! Barn conversions very rarely look right to me :?

By the way, the [bad word] that was in my post earlier wasn't really THAT bad. I changed it to 'damn' because it was 'b*gg**' but I didn't want people thinking I'd put 'f*@%' :lol: :lol:

I sent an email to a mate who works at the Screwfix head office last week, containing the word "damn"- I got an automated reply back telling me not to send offensive emaIls to Screwfix staff!

Clearly a sensitive bunch down in Yeovil, I shall stick to "bother" and "fiddlesticks" in future.......

Thats nothing!, I once (tried) to send an internal e-mail accusing someone of being "niggardly", the system rejected it. It's a good job we don't have an office in Scunthorpe!

The guy came to see to the Rayburn and can't check for the gas leak because the thermocouple has gone and it will take 4-5 days to get one from Rayburn :evil:

So, the house is freezing, the wax is solid in the tins and I'm having to use my tumble dryer again :shock: . No waxing for me for a week or so....and I was just getting into the swing of things :evil: :evil: :evil:

Woo-hoo!! My Rayburn is fixed Poor thing, he looked so redundant sitting there idle but now he has a big smile on his face and his heart is warming up nicely Time for waxing again...and the tumble dryer can go back into retirement

How ungrateful can a tumble dryer be? I decided to use it for one last time (for a large throw that just needed 10 minutes to finish it off) now that my Rayburn's back up and running and....it started billowing smoke out!!! :shock: :shock: I had to unplug it, drag it out of the shed (aka utility room) and quickly rescue my throw. So, now it looks like it's going into the scrap metal trailer. Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face!! :lol: :lol: :lol:
