Galvanised vs Stainless steel fixings under Lime ?

Ive been told to use Stainless stell screws/fixings for wall/ceiling-board that I intend Lime-plastering over.
As any ordinary steel fixings will rust and seep through the lime or expand and "blow-off" the render.
My Question is...Would galavanised screws/fixing plates do?
Ive sourced stainless steel screws, but having difficulty finding stainless steel plates to attach my new Box-sash windows into the recess with???...any clues ??

The laths in my ceiling and stud walls were fixed with iron nails and then lime plastered.

One hundred and seventy years later I see no sign of blowing or rust.

Having said that when I secured my slightly fragile ceilings I used stainless steel bolts and washers.

I can't see any reason not to use galvanised fittings. I suspect your walls and ceilings are unlikely to be permanently damp so rusting should not be a problem.
If you want stainless brackets, have a look in Yellow pages for a sheet metal shop or steel fabricator, who may be happy to make them to your spec.

Whilst stainless steel is the best if the work is inside and not subject to constant dampness it should be ok in galv. You could always give it a coat of thick paint too just to be extra cautious but once the plaster has dried it should not risk corrosion.

thanks for your responses...ill go for the galvanised strip...I thought s-steel was a bit over the top !

Both our electrician and Julie the plasterer told us to use stainless, something to do with the way lime reacts with the galvanisation I think, rahter than the damp causing rusting. Could have remembered this totally wrong though.
I also suspect if we made iron as good as they did back in years gone by it'd last quite well today.

i have also read something about lime reacting with either stainless or galvanized , i think it was galvanized.
