Cheers. Now we maybe adjusting it a little as the front side of the roof angled in on the edge. Turns out the front edge has half tiles but the rear ha full ones right to the edge. The gutter at th egg front is original. It seems that a previous bodge maybe the reason.

Made a little more progress today. Chimney pots on one chimney just need the darn scaffold shifted on that one so lead flashing can be done. Other one is repaired and ready for leadwok

Opened up the sealed chimney yesterday, sealed with a tile, crystalized sweating underneath.
All being well ridges and verge boards on today and pretty much finished.

Blimey, cannot believe it 5 weeks on and I think it's done. One complete new gable end, one partial repair and one a bit more than partial. Chimneys repointed and opened up. All new purlins. Just finishing touches but thinking of calling the scaffolders to remove it to stop me keep going up and finding somethin g else.. Summer off me thinks but the other half wants the kitchen and fireplace done..

That's a really nice job, and not very far from where I live. I shall look out for it on my next cycle ride! May I ask what paint/primer you used?

Cheers. No primer. Used ingilby pure linseed paint. Primer coat was just diluted paint with boiled oil nice paint nice company and goes a long way.
That would be very useful here if you wouldn’t mind sharing - not masses of roof work to be done thankfully, unlike the rest of the entire building! But there is more than enough , including chimneys, and more importantly leadwork…

Looking good! Very satisfying when you get to the end of the roof work. Scaffolders always seem to take ages to strike the scaffold - I think they like to wait until they can strip it from your house, put it on their truck and take it straight to the next job!

They do, it's well known in the trade because it's extra work to take it back to the yard and unload it, and then reload for another job.
Depending on whether you are planning on using the same scaffolder in the future, you can always mention that you would charge them a storage fee if it isn't taken down following the end of the contracted hire period. Most scaffolders I've used specify a 4 week minimum hire and will happily charge you if you need it longer, only fair to offer them the same service
