Gable End Finial Ideas

Hi , can people please give ideas on finials for my gable end . Currently I have a newel post …which I don’t dislike , but it’s now got areas of rot so am going to replace . I could do the same again , but wonder if people might have other suggestions . Have also posted a pic of my neighbours front as a comparison .

Looks like the neighbours have made their newel post go all the way to the ridge so they don't have that horizontal surface at the top to sustain rain and sun damage, if you do reinstate that seems a good idea.

Looks in fine nick. Just use a bit of specialist filler (Timbabuild or Repaircare or similar flexi epoxy) and repaint. Yours looks much nicer than your neighbour's.
