Front garden.

I decided to slab my front small garden as I need to keep 2 wheelie bins on it. I came up with various ways of try to make it look pretty and not too stark, and this is my solution. I am pleased now the flowers are out, I just hope the rose blooms before the bedding plants are past their best.

Slabbing looks good. Nice to see you have kept a decent height below the air brick and left a pebble filled splash zone next to the building. I am of course assuming that the fall is away from the building. what are the slabs... a bit like kandala grey Indian sandstone but a bit too regular. Are they natural?

Thanks for the kind words. The slabs are concrete, but at least they are mottled and have a faux riven pattern so not too uniform looking! This restoration/renovation is very a expensive game it seems, and I'm beginning to cut back where I can. I must have removed 6 inches of soil from the entire garden, I'm sure it must have been a few tons. i did it over a few years but I did fill half a skip in one energetic weekend. The fall is away from the house, but not by much, but no water pools as the slabs are laid on sand so water can permeate.

Hey, PP, are those airbricks original or have you added them?

Where might I find something smilar in the Midlands?

Hello Spoilt Victorian Child, those air bricks are original. they surfaced when reduced the height of the garden, so I used them when building the wall. There are a few yards around here that may have some but I can't guarantee it. I have one double height one, so probably 6.25" x 9 that you can have if you want. You are in London aren't you? Is your house red brick or yellow London stock? Are you wanting them as air bricks? If you can't get terracotta ones, then cast iron can look very nice.

HI PP, I didn't realise they came in double height. This would hopefully help with the airflow, even though the property would've only had single height airbricks originally.
