Found dry rot

Hello looking for some advice, live in a mid terrace property house next door empty the ages and we had damp cone in where house joins to next door. The house next door was sold and new roof added this addressed the water ingress we had however the water has made it's way down the ropey old wall behind skirting in landing and caused a mix of wet rot and dry rot ( I ripped some plasterboard away and full of white stuff which smells mushroom like. I know I need to replace the staircase as the top 3 treads/steps are rotten and bouncing but realistically won't have the money to do the job until July (redundancy pay out pending) does anyone thing a temp fix could be done to get the family though til the summer? Any advice welcome

If the water has stopped the rot will eventually die. Just fix anything obviously broken or dangerous, like the stairs and stop pulling at the plasterboard.

I know I need to replace the staircase but my question was more around a temp fix for a few months until I have the funds to pay a professional.

Depends how agricultural you want to be - cutting down some 18mm plywood to the same size as the treads and then screwing them down on top of the existing with long enough screws to get down into the timber underneath will see you through
