I have just had an offer accepted on a property which now may be 'flying freehold'. It is a house that is only 6 years old and all houses in that street are built in the same design.
The house in question has a double drive way to the front but the longe is on the 1st floor and is over a drive way which leads to the parking spaces for the houses either side.
Who owns the bit of drive that my prospective longe is over? Is this flying freehold? and as it causes such problems, why would a whole street be in this design?
If this turns out to be flying freehold, our mortgage lender will not go ahead with the offer.
