Hi all,
I’m in the process of self building a small rear extension on a 1920s house (narrow cavity brick wall construction).
For the floor buildup, my engineer has specced:
450mm hardcore
Layer of dpm
175mm reinforced slab
150mm insulation
Layer of dpm
75mm top screed/slab
The existing floor in the house build up is
Mud/Rubble
300mm Fly ash
50mm concrete slab
(no dpm)
I’m thinking that at the junction between old and new, I’m going to have a point where the dpm has to terminate/join the existing slab. How would people normally detail this? Or am I opening myself up to a world of damp problems and the point where these two join?
