Hi all,
You may remember i recently posted with query about the best way to make a floating floor - you were all very helpful. This is what building control told us (make of this what you will!)
1. Waterproof cement around exterior walls
2. hardcore base
3. soft sand - blinding layer to prevent punctures to membrane
4. membrane.
5. 3 inch kingspan
6. concrete - at least 10cm with mesh re-inforcing
7. plywood
8. T & G flooring as floating floor - in our case engineered oak boards
Overall depth 9 inches including flooring comprising
1 inch sand
2mm membrane
4 inch conrete
3 inch kingspan
1/4 inch plywood
1/2 inch T & G
So insulation then concrete apparently - got to keep that lovely conrete layer cosy and warm
