Flexible drainage rod recommendations?

Evening all

Hopefully a quick one, I have a fairly inaccessible gutter downpipe that requires the “big ladder” to get to the top of as it drains onto a porch roof, however the bottom of it is only accessible by a stepladder.

I was thinking about attempting to rod it from the bottom, but previous attempts with rubber/firbreglass rods have not gone well. Attempted a drain snake but that is too flexible. I’ve seen spring steel rods and the like online but not overly keen to invest in yet another set unless I know it will do the job.

Rods would need to be able to manage 1x 135 at the base and then 2x 135s at the top - anyone got any direct experience of something that will do the job?

Nuclear option is to try and shove a pressure washer or leaf blower up it but would prefer something less messy!

If you have a pressure washer, I would thoroughly recommend an extension pipe with rearward facing water jets. These not only help to propel the flexible pipe along the offending pipework but when it encounters the blockage it helps to break it up and flush it backwards rather than pushing it forwards and compacting it even more.

I can't comment on the gutter cleaner as I've never used it but I've used the extension pipe a number of times and it works very well. I won't go into the gory details but just believe me that it saved the day over the Christmas holiday when we had a houseful of guests and the septic tank pipe became blocked

I completely agree with Flyfisher. The backward-facing jets pull the pipe up the downpipe.
The only drawback is if you find the pipe supplied isn't quite long enough. I found I could unscrew mine from the connector to the pressure washer, and could cobble together an extension - the threads on mine are a fairly common size for water fittings.
You may have to disconnect the downpipe at the bottom to get enough clearance underneath.

Given I will be half lying on the porch roof to get the hose into the bottom of the downpipe, the only downside is I will almost definitely get the full blast of the backward facing jets in my face

Have you ever heard Blaster Bates tale of 'The Shower of Sh*** over Cheshire'?

You could be in for a similar experience when that pressure washer gets to the top of the pipe.
