I think it's time to cover a topic which seems to come around every year or so.... Again... Sorry.
I have flagstones. Unsealed, previously unloved and delaminating bit by bit. I'm based in North Someset and have no idea what they are made of but they appear to be laid directly on earth.
They are dry and I suspect there is little damp coming though these now we;re pumping heat in... but my quandary is...
1. Liberon Stone cleaner - anything better now known?
2. Sealant - I cant find anything about Liberon being breathable... is it? Are there better alternatives - Something like this? http://www.drytreat.com/sealers/residential/40sk.html. I really dont fancy the linseed approach - but could be persuaded if people can tell me good things, not some of the horror stories I've hear of Sticky floors and murky patina's.
I want to seal them as I have a tenancy to drop, spill, bleed, and cry regularly over flooring and living accouterments and would like to ensure the Sofa (It's my other halfs and I really don't like it) bears the brunt of this....
3. Can anyone explain why delamination occurs (these are 200yrs old and are now delaminating) and if there is any way to stop it?
4. The joints between flagstones, what lime / lime mix do people recommend?
Thanks in advance
