Fireplace before and afters

A couple of progress photos. Now I've finished a lot of the ripping out it's good to start on some rebuilding.

As we bought it:

After filling up the room with rubble:

And rebuilding the arch that was there when a range was put in.

It's now ready to have a flue liner put down when we're having the roof fixed.

Fantastic transformations.
Peeling back the years with a crowbar and lump hammer.

We will, I think be limewashing ours, not sure yet but maybe with some colour, any suggestions?

No help with a colour suggestion for the back of your fireplace, but so glad that Alan found you 'at home' this afternoon, he is most impressed with your efforts!

Oh well the painting is far down the list I've lumped it in with " the easy bits at the end ". It was good to meet Alan, I hope he finds the property he's after, then he always pop round with his paintbrush.
