Fired Earth Paint

Just in case anyone is thinking of redecorating ( Moo) or choosing colours (Juju & Joce)!!! Fired Earth are offering 3 for 2 on paints-- until 25th Feb.

Pity, I got the paint for the bathroom panels last month

Are their paints any good (will they be ok over my mixture of emulsion, limewash, and assorted plasters?)

I do hope they are, because the only two paint suppliers in walking distance of us are Thorns (deluxe etc) and Fired Earth (which is, in fact, just down the road).




I like the fine distinction, Joce, that you made between me and Joce&Juju. I certainly don't aspire to such exquisite aesthetic judgements as the two Js - with me it's a question of least-worse.......!

It's my lifelong experience that "least-worst" tends to be a great deal cheaper, and invariably indistinguishable from, "best".

I used Fired Earth gloss on the front door of my old house - I thought it was pretty good and the people who bought the house haven't changed it (they begged me to leave them all the curtains saying they had no money as first-time buyers so I left some very expensive Laura Ashley curtains that I'd spent hours making and they replaced them within weeks - but I'm not bitter...)

I don't actually need any paint just at the moment as I've bought everything we need for about 4 rooms - just haven't got round to doing the decorating yet!

Thanks Joss - I won't be decorating this month sadly as we have to spend £1300 on Perspex. But thanks for telling us all.

I think Nigel's used Fired Earth paints and liked them, as I've said before I have to use FnB as that's the only way to get a pure match to the wallpapers I'm using.

Moo - your home isn't testimony to your mellow attitude! I thought the colours were just lovely. xx

I guess Fired Earth paints are pretty much the same as most of the others now.. I have not used it for years, it just happened that I found a lovely colour so I just bought a small tin of eggshell for the bathroom panels.

I swear by ROJ and Francesca's chalky emulsions for everything else, but have just sent away for an Eco paint colour chart/ info etc.

Thats not masculine , this is me and my brother when we were five.

OK yes it is a bit masculine , i had to right click and view image to see the geezer in the metal suit.
But then again he could be wearing fishnet tights under that get up.

You could be right... but I've scoured the photo with a magnifying glass and I can't see any elephants anywhere, so I guess it's not her. It could be Yamin - she's quite a game girl with a history of guns and action-heroine type activities!

a. You just saved me £30!
b. You probably saved me about £400 as we finally concluded that Mrs CS and I could not agree on a wallpaper from Wm Morris so have put off the decision in favour of paint. I suppose kids are still young and repainting is a lot easier than repapering!

we popped to the Hereford branch and they happily took our money for 2 tins and gave us a credit note for the third in case we find we have enough and want something different for another room.

Now there's service!
