Fire surrounds going spare

I have salvaged 2 fire surounds from a house near me that is being butchered. I'm sure more stuff went in a skip but I managed to save these. The house was a large 6 bed double fronted semi, from around 1870 - 1880 I would guess from what I know of the area and the style of the house. The surrounds have openings of 36" high by 30" wide and 36"high by 24" wide. They were most likely from the bigger bedrooms. I would be really happy if they could be used in an age appropriate house, so if anyone wants them, ple\se let me know. If nobody wants them, I may modify one of them to make a 36 x 36 opening and use it myself.

Criminal what people will do to an old house :evil: Good on you PP for salvaging them, still a shame they're not where they used to be.

These huge windows - 8' x 4' - at the end of my garage came from a Victorian school chapel and were literally fished out of a skip, because they were being replaced with UPVC :evil:



I got 2 windows for the end wall of my garage and a damaged 3rd one that I cut down and turned into mirror, that sits at the head of my stairs. Great for me but even better if they were still in the chapel.

Difficult to believe that people are *still* ripping out original features in houses.
