Finish for pamments?

I have almost finished relaying my pamments on the pantry floor and will undoubtedly be itching to polish them up asap. I've read various methods of 'sealing' them to ensure they remain breathable.

The various proposed potions seem to be either boiled linseed oil or a mix of turps/beeswax (eye of newt, etc.). Given the amount of time I've taken laying them I want to ensure I get a good authentic finish.

Although there appears to be several methods proposed no one seems to have given details of the application/mixes to be used? Anyone spare an eager polisher with their words of wisdom?

I wouldn't rush into putting anything on them. Try the Ecover linseed oil floor cleaner.

I've just read that SPAB recommend the use of turpentine polish followed by a coat of beeswax. Anyone tried this?

I don't think there is any such thing as turpentine polish. What there is is beeswax and turpentine polish. The turpentine makes the beeswax softer and more smearable. That will certainly turn a dull looking pammet into a polished pammet. Buy a large tin - you'll need a fair bit for a floor's first coat. This one is pure beeswax and turpentine, widely available

but you might think a beeswax with carnauba wax is more suitable as it may be more hardwearing so better for floors.
