English Heritage have launched the National Heritage List for England
http://list.english-heritage.org.uk/
Lots of fun to be had, all sorts of different things to search for, all lumped together for the first time. From now on, this will be the statutory source for the Listed Buildings List (but not for the Scheduled Monoments Schedule, even though they're on the National Heritage List too - all clear so far? good), and also has details of protected battlefields, parks and gardens, wrecks and World Heritage Sites.
It went live this morning. I rather liked the map search facility to start with, but I spotted two serious (ie more than a mile out) errors in mapping listed buildings, in 20 minutes of playing with it at lunchtime. It also doesn't attempt to define the curtilage of listed buildings, so caution is advised in using it, but doubtless many hours could be whiled away.
