Fabric by the roll

Works must be progressing because I am starting to think about final finishes. This is a bit premature as Malcolm will verify but it is good to think ahead ...

The sitting room has a LOT of window and curtaining it is going to be expensive so I am hoping to buy fabric by the roll. Does anyone know of a good source? I have been looking on ebay and have found a warehouse in Bradford but that is a long way from Bedford and I really need to look at fabric for real, not on a computer screen

For the last house I visited Brick Lane but it has changed a bit since then. Where have all the Brick Lane fabric shops gone to?

There is a shop (online) called Laura's Beau in Harrogate that do some William Morris designs for not too much, around £12/m. They are pretty good, although Strawberry thief if much smaller and less detailed than the Morris fabric, but the rest are pretty convincing as far as I can see. Worth a try if that is a style you like.

I use Dible and Roy in Marborough. When I were a lass it was 4 separate shops, now it's a sort of Aladdins cave of fabrics. A bit easier to get to than Bradford or Harrogate.

It turns out that my timing is immaculate. The Mandarin Oriental 5* London hotel is having a refit and ebay is awash with sumptuous curtains

Just a word to the wise - there is an auction at the Mandarin Oriental is on the 24th October, viewing started today.
Perhaps they've already got rid of some curtains via ebay, there are also plenty for sale at the hotel itself in this upcoming one. Along with a ton of other stuff
