house next door has had its exterior limewashed in one coat , they are back today because the render cracked so they filled it and are now limewashing over it again , its really thick limewash?
anyone heard of this type of limewash?
I have only seen it on television once and they called it hot lime wash. They put the lumps of burnt limestone in water and it bubbled up, like it does, then it was painted onto the wall. It was white straight away but they did do a couple of coats. As you can see, I haven't used any technical terms, mainly because I don't know any. I'm more like they Harry Enfield Mr Cholmondely-Warner sketch, where they women tried to join in a conversation about politics at a dinner party and were told to stick to something they know about, like fluffy kittens  .
They didn't actually use it while it was bubbling, they just used it before it was left for 3 months, to turn into limeputty. On the programme they said it was much thicker when painted on and lasted for much longer than normal limewash.
